Simon Ripley

Simon Ripley makes mono-print linocuts using an 1850’s Columbian Press - one of the first iron presses ever made. The press drives ink into Japanese papers under great pressure: wet ink imprinted on top of wet to give the subtle broken surface patterns that are typical of Simon’s work. The intention is to create a meditative image that perhaps reminds you of a place, a time, a conversation.
