Over five enlightening weeks, this half-day course will introduce you to the diverse and rich world of intaglio, allowing you to explore various techniques and uncover your unique artistic expression.

Course Highlights:

Getting Started

  • Begin your intaglio journey by exploring the range of intaglio processes on offer.

  • On this self-directed course you can explore the potential of your chosen intaglio process, (drypoint, etching, collagraph, photo etching, silk aquatint, mezzotint etc).

  • If you are unsure about where you would like to start, you will be offered drypoint or collagraph as an intuitive process to start with.

  • Drypoint is a method where you'll incise your design directly onto a plate, creating rich and expressive lines

  • .Collagraphs are like creating a printable collage.

Delving further

  • Dive deeper into the world of intaglio with many examples and Lynn Bailey's wide ranging experience as a guide.

  • Some participants may wish to explore etching. Learning about different etching grounds, aquatints, and techniques to produce stunning etched prints.

  • Some participants may prefer more direct intaglio processes.

Beyond the Basics

  • As the term progresses, participants may choose to explore more processes or to build upon the particular process they wish to concentrate on.

  • With each Intagllio process there are ways off enriching the potential of the medium. Whether that is adding carborundum to  the repertoire, chine colle or by using multiple plates.

  • Your final week will find you completing projects and looking to the future regarding your own printmaking journey.

  • Create intaglio prints that reflect your unique artistic vision, incorporating the techniques you've explored throughout the course.

  • Receive valuable feedback and guidance from Lynn Bailey and fellow participants.
