Ecominds funding for Print on Prescription

We are delighted to be able to continue our work within the mental health sector through a two-year funding programme from Ecominds. We will be able to expand and develop our Print on Prescription scheme.

Ecominds is a grant programme which helps people with experiene of mental distress to get involved in local environmental projects that improve mental and physical health. We also have support from Exeter Arts Council and The People's Postcode Trust.

This summer we began the programme by working with Organic Arts at West Town Farm in Ide. Luckily the weather was amazing and we were able to explore the farm and use plants, vegetables and fruit on the farm to print with.

Recording Exeter's Royal Academy for Deaf Education through texture and line

Working with Devon Record Office and art teacher Cathryn Keeler, DEPW ran several print sessions to help the students create a record of their current school before they relocate to their new premises.

Lunchtime printing at The Met Office

Alongside other Exeter arts organisations, DEPW ran a print-your-own-bag workshop for Met Office staff. We wanted to promote our activities in Exeter's business park and provide some inky fun for office workers.

Tactile printmaking with visually impaired students

Our project with Devon Record Office and The West of England School (for young people with little or no sight) has now come to an end. The children have finished their beautiful tactile prints based on their mobility routes and past and present maps of Countess Wear. They learned to use unusual and tactile materials to create their collagraph plates and embossed prints.

Healthcare Arts

Our exhibition of over 40 15x15cm prints created (by all users of DEPW) for the Impact print conference in Bristol is now being exhibited at St Leonards Medical Practice and at The RD&E Hospital. We also ran a drop-in print workshop at the medical practice for staff and patients in the waiting area with artist Jess Carvill.
